Building Literacy Coach - Tammy Culver

Hello! I joined the Mitchell staff as the Building Literacy Coach in the spring of 2025. My teaching career in AAPS began in 2016 teaching 4th and 3rd grade. I have previously taught  1st-5th grades in Michigan, Texas and California. At Mitchell, my work is driven by a love of literacy, a passion for working with children and strong enthusiasm for the growth potential in every student.

My bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and master’s degree in Early Literacy were earned at Michigan State University. Go Green! I am also a Michigan-certified reading specialist. In my role at Mitchell, I work with small groups of students to strengthen reading skills and support teachers in providing high-quality reading and writing instruction.

Outside of school, time is often spent with my two grown sons. I also enjoy being outdoors, reading, cooking and spending time with friends and family.
